My main sport background is in gymnastics.I was a gym club owner and head coach in the Denver area for 20 years. For four years I did event work with the U.S. Olympic Committee and a Colorado sport and event management company. In 1998, I earned a degree in psychology with an emphasis in sport psychology and have spent the past ten years working with numerous individuals, teams, and coaches in the area of mental skills training.
I'm a former competitive softball player and gymnast.I currently participate in several recreational sports and activities including cross country & downhill skiing, mountain biking, and golf.Competitively, I'm a runner, duathlete, triathlete, and cyclist. Some of my most memorable events include the Pike's Peak Ascent, the Cherry Creek Cycling Time Trials, The Triple Bypass and the New York City Marathon. The concepts and skills I teach my athletes are ones that I use personally in my athletic activities.
My athletes range in age from young children to masters and senior competitors and include recreational, elite, and professional athletes.I'm the on-staff mental coach for four area gymnastics clubs. I am affiliated with DU and South Suburban Figure Skating Programs, USA Gymnastics Women's and Men's Program, Club USA, Slammers Baseball, and Boulder Skip-Its. I have worked with numerous high school teams and club programs.
My work with athletes is as a teacher, coach, mentor and resource and is directed primarily towards performance enhancement.Although this may also include methods for effectively managing some "off the field" and life issues as they affect and relate to performance. My goal is to provide my athletes with useful sport psychology information and as many mental tools as possible, so they're able to thrive and excel in their sports. As a side benefit, the mental skills an athlete develops are also beneficial life skills they can take with them into all areas of their daily lives.
"Helping athletes to reach their ultimate potential is my passion!I love the energy of the sporting arena and the challenge of competition.I genuinely care about my athletes and strive to provide them with the knowledge & confidence to perform successfully.Working with athletes to achieve their dreams and athletic goals is always the best part of my day!"
