“Most often our players thought their time spent with Gail was the best part of their 2-hour practice.
Gail Royce might be the BEST we have worked with in relaying to our athletes (ages 8-19 years old) that mental training is just another skill set that needs to be developed in ALL athletes in order for them to be the most successful they can be.
Gail showed our players that a positive attitude, proper motivation, and focused concentration can bring about the ability to handle a variety of emotions that a young athlete goes through. She was able to tailor each session with players based on their ages and needs.
We have been working with Gail for over 10+ years and hope to continue our partnership long into the future.”

Mark Holzemer, President and Owner; Clint Zavaras, Owner; Jeff Jenkins, GM“Gail helped give my athletes the confidence and grit needed to persevere in each of their sports.
I am the mother of 4 athletes in different sports. My kids have worked with Gail for a variety of reasons. Gail has helped my kids with strong mental competition prep, dealing with obstacles in the sports as well as helped them navigate daily with a positive mindset. My kids have faced all kinds of adversity in their sports and Gail definitely helped them navigate through it and become stronger from the process. I believe all they have learned will help them become successful adults. I highly recommend Gail for all athletes.”
Jenny
Mom of Club and University swimmers and gymnasts“Gail has given me some of the best tools to last a lifetime.
Gymnastics is a complex sport of which challenges you mentally and physically. After encountering many obstacles in my career I have come to understand just how important mental conditioning is. I have worked with Gail since I was a young gymnast, and the tools I have been given to be mentally tough not only inside the gym, but in life as well has been a huge part to my success in reaching my goals as a D1 student-athlete. Learning to change my mindset through visualizing, meditating, positive self talk, and much more has allowed me to reach goals I never knew were possible for myself.”
Jordyn Jaslow
D1 Collegiate Gymnast“I’m closer to reaching my full potential in ski racing with her by my side, than I ever was without her.
I started ski racing at age 12. One major part of my journey is working on my mental toughness. I’ve been working with Gail Royce for about three years and she has taught me the importance and power of my mind. Gail never ceases to have tons of wisdom and advice. But what is unique about her is that she teaches her athletes not how to build the components we need to be successful, but how to utilize the tools and resource we already have, in order to build those components ourselves.“
Julia Wordley, Alpine Ski Racer
Great Britain National Team“Gail is the most influential mentor in my life.
As an eleven year old competitive Junior Olympic gymnast I struggled with anxiety and sport-related phobia that debilitated my performance. During our very first meeting, Gail sparked the conscious connection of my mind and body and shaped my personal and professional path forever after. She introduced me to top-down emotion regulation techniques like power statements, cue words, and goal-setting as well as bottom-up relaxation techniques like breath control, meditation, and visualization. Gail and I celebrated the highs together, and we also persevered through the lows together. Whether it was recovering from chronic injuries or transitioning into life-after-sport and grieving a loss of identity, Gail was always in my corner. Her steadfast confidence in my ability to overcome adversity and live up to my fullest potential was and is contagious. After over ten years of being in each other’s lives, I am so honored to continue to call Gail my mentor and lifelong friend.”
Ilana
Former USAG gymnast and high school diver“I’m not sure a name receives more praise in my household than Gail Royce.
Over the past ten years, Gail has worked with me to tackle all my goals. From the football field to law school, she has provided me with the mental tools I need to perform at my best. I still use the techniques she taught me on day one and she continues to sharpen my mental arsenal with every interaction we have together. Her unwavering passion and confidence have given me the courage to continue in the face of my most significant hardships. The skills we have developed have helped me avert crisis and, most importantly, reach my potential.
Thank you, Gail, for being who you are and for all the good you bring to those around you.”
Troy Fossett
J.D. Candidate, May 2022, Boston College Law School“Thanks to Gail I went on to finish a productive 5 year collegiate baseball career.
I was fortunate to meet Coach Gail as a high athlete while playing baseball for Slammers Colorado. Her newsletters and other frequent follow-ups demonstrated how invested she was in making a difference in our lives and playing careers. After a traumatic experience in my freshman year of college I reconnected with Gail, and the foundation we’d established previously gave me a toolbox full of techniques to re-center myself both on and off the baseball diamond. Without her guidance I do not believe I would have been able to work through the fears, anxieties, insecurities, and failures I had experienced.
Today, I’m fortunate to cover Big XII baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, and wrestling on television and radio for the University of Oklahoma. I am always impressed when talking with team sport psychologists to learn that many of the techniques and skills I learned from Gail are also being taught at this elite level.
They say, “There are two kinds of baseball players; those who have been humbled, and those who are about to be.” When you get knocked down and it’s time to pick yourself up, it’s all about having the right tools in your toolbox and the right people in your corner. Coach Gail Royce provides both.”
Taylor Maples
University Sportscaster“As a young gymnast, I was lucky enough to train at a facility that encouraged the mental aspect of sports as much as the physical.
For the past seven years, I’ve been able to work with Gail throughout season to develop my mental skills. It helped me grow in ways words can’t quite explain.
As an eighth grader, I qualified for a special meet called the Nastia Liukin and I didn’t see myself as someone who belonged there. Terrified, this opportunity for growth resulted in a faceplant or two… nothing like an epic fail out there on YouTube to mess with a middle schooler. But despite this, I’d learned from Gail that growth happens over time, and I desperately wanted another opportunity to compete on that stage. Lessons from Gail on the value of tenacity were ingrained in my head, and the next year I qualified again. I was more prepared this time around. Gail helped me plan out several strategies for overcoming all of the stress and pressure swirling around me. She even surprised me by flying across the country to the meet just to support me. I knew what to expect, and I accomplished all of my competition goals.
And it’s not all hard work, either. I laughed more with Gail in “mental group” than anywhere else in the gym, and yet we still accomplished what we needed to. Who knew M&Ms contained the secret to teamwork, or that washers can read minds?!
I wouldn’t be who I am today without everything Gail has given me, and while I’ve graduated I’ll no longer be with Gail every Tuesday, I know that I can rely on her as a resource at any time, and the gift of knowledge will last a lifetime beyond that. Thank you for everything Gail!
Rylie
Former USAG Level 10 gymnast; Four-time Nastia Liukin Cup qualifier; 2019 JO National team member, Current D1 gymnast“I can confidently say that when I am outside of the gym and I step aside from being a competitive gymnast, I still use everything Gail has taught me to ease my anxiety and become a more mindful human. From the daily deep breathing to the tools that she has taught me to use in the gym, I have become an athlete who is more in tune with my body and mind. During practices, I have always been very consistent and a perfectionist, but when it came to meets, I would get so nervous and tense up, which lead me to not performing the way I wanted to. With the skills Gail taught me, I am a more confident, fierce, and calm competitor. She has also been someone who I can count on, lean on, and someone who believes in me to achieve my goals! I am so grateful for Gail and all that she has done for me! Thank you so much!”
